Illini end season ranked No. 11

Minot State University (25-6-2) defeated Iowa State University (20-12-3) 3-1 in the 2019 ACHA Men’s Division-I National Championship Game to secure its second ever national title. Captain Blake Fournier, the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, led the Beavers to victory with two goals and an assist and a +5 rating in four games played, while defenseman Kyle Lipinski chipped in three goals and goaltender Joshua Bykowski notched three wins, allowing two goals against with a sensational 97.1 save percentage. Despite the loss, No. 2 Iowa State posted its highest finish since losing in the 2016 National Championship Game. Lindenwood University (31-2-0), the No. 1 team for 14 consecutive weeks, was unable to score against a stingy Minot State defense in the semi-finals to finish the season at No. 3, while University of Michigan-Dearborn (22-1-2), which lost a heartbreaker in double overtime to Iowa State in the other semi-final, took the No. 4 spot. A total of 60 teams are competing in Men’s Division-I this season, including two new teams: the University of Toledo and William Paterson University. With the conclusion of the ACHA’s 28th season, there have been a total of 14 schools that have won the ACHA Men's Division-I National Championship:
The Central States Collegiate Hockey League leads the way with all five of its member teams ranked, while the Western Collegiate Hockey League has six (of 8) of its member teams ranked, the Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League has four (of 6) of its member teams ranked, and the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League has four (of 8) of its member teams ranked. The 2020 ACHA Men's Division-I National Championships will be hosted March 19-24 for the second time by the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League, the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas, and Children’s Health StarCenters in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This will be the ninth year of the 20-team format.
