ACHA Final Rankings

Adrian College (33-1-0) defeated the University of Illinois (20-10-2) 8-1 in the 2018 ACHA Men’s Division-I National Championship Game to secure its first ever national championship. Goaltender Austyn Roudebush, the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, led the Bulldogs to victory by only allowing four goals against in four games played, while Marcus Rose and Joe Costello paced the scoring attack with three goals and two assists each over the four games. Despite the loss, No. 2 Illinois posted its highest finish since losing in the 2009 National Championship Game. Minot State (30-3-1), the No. 1 seed for the third consecutive year, was unable to get past Illinois in the semi-finals to finish the season at No. 3, while Lindenwood University (27-5-4), who lost to Adrian 4-0 in the other semi-final, took the No. 4 spot. A total of 60 teams competed in Men’s Division-I this season, including three new teams: Calvin College, New York University and University of Nevada-Las Vegas. With the conclusion of the ACHA’s 27th season, there have been a total of 14 schools that have won the ACHA Men's Division-I National Championship:
The Central States Collegiate Hockey League led the way with all five of its member teams ranked, while the Western Collegiate Hockey League (WCHL) had six (of 8) of its member teams ranked, the Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League (ESCHL) had five (of 8) of its member teams ranked, and the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League (GLCHL) had four (of 9) of its member teams ranked. The 2019 ACHA Men's Division-I National Championships will be hosted March 21-26 for the first time by the Dallas Sports Commission, Dallas Stars, and Dr Pepper StarCenters at the Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco, TX. This will be the eighth year of the 20-team format.
